Is it just me or does each stage theme sound/feel a lot like it’s from the game that stage was originally in? Like how stage 3 theme sounds and feels a lot like Imperishable Night stage 4 theme and just has that IN OST feel to it in general (especially from this part and on). Stage 3 theme reminds me a lot of TD OST in general, and some of the UFO OST. And although it technically isn’t the same place, stage 1 theme reminds me a lot of Fairy Wars OST (more the melody when it comes to this one and not the instruments).
All with that added new ZUN music flair.
Unfortunately, I can’t say the same for the boss themes.
At first I was kind of put off by so much ZUNtar in Wakasagihime’s theme, but I really like the melody so it doesn’t bother me too much.
Not sure what to think of Sakibanki’s theme yet. I don’t find it particularly special, but I’m sure it’ll grow on me sooner or later.
Kagerou’s theme reminds me a lot of Flan/Koishi/Nue for obvious reasons. Which I like.
Out of all of the themes, stage 3 theme wins by a lot. And I don’t think it’s just because of how much it reminds me of IN, but that’s probably part of the appeal for me.
